New Perspective (the Hanged Man in traditional decks) represents the transformation from surrender to initiation. He willingly suspends himself from the tree, patiently waiting for a new way to experience the world. New Perspective pauses as he questions all he has known. He has no fear, knowing he can get down at any point. He surrenders old beliefs in order to create the new.

In the Tarot of Empowerment, New Perspective is looking at the world in a fresh way in order to achieve divine enlightenment. Once he has accomplished his goal, he will be initiated to a higher level of wisdom and understanding. He understands that through his own enlightenment he can help to create a better world.

Upright: When New Perspective comes up in a reading, it suggests that you pause before making a decision. This is the time for you to question your old beliefs before moving towards your future direction. You are counseled to be open to new outlooks and attitudes from unexpected places and to be willing to surrender the old. Reversed: In a reversed position, New Perspective suggests you may be going through a new sense of who you are. As a block, this card suggests that you are you are resisting different points of view and holding onto old beliefs and not willing to explore new ideas. It is time to look for a fresh viewpoint about how you are in the world.
