5 The Advisor (Heirophant)
Wise one, tell me your ways
How do I learn the answers
How do I find my power
Share your knowledge and your wisdom with me
The Advisor (the Hierophant in the traditional deck) is the energy of the philosopher/teacher who calls upon tradition and experience to provide guidance. He is the translator of established and specialized rules and language from within his area of study to the general population.
The Advisor is one who is an expert in the area about which you are asking the question, be it spirit, psychology, law, accounting or other parts of your life. He interprets the complicated rules and regulations of his area of life expertise and translates them in an understandable way in order that appropriate, sometimes challenging, action can be taken.
The counsel of the Advisor can cause dramatic shifts and changes in your world as his knowledge is divulged to you.
In Tarot of Empowerment, the Advisor is portrayed as a learned and compassionate man of the world who attempts to unravel the mysteries of life through the simplicity of love, wisdom, and insight. Advisor demonstrates that a world of compassion can resolve even difficult issues.
Upright: When the Advisor comes up in a reading, it is time to seek the advice of one who has the expertise and wisdom you need to connect to find answers to your question. This card may also indicate that you are the Advisor or teacher. If so, remember to teach with compassion, humor and tolerance. Teach with the integrity of your highest self.
Empowerment: The Advisor empowers through wise and truthful counsel that is based on experience and fairness. You become empowered when you actively listen to and judiciously apply the knowledge in your life.
Reversed: The reversed Advisor can indicate it is time to take your own advice. As a block, it suggests you may not be getting, or giving, the wisest advice. Carefully evaluate what you are hearing and saying to ensure the wisdom is true.
Numerology: Advisor is the number 5, which holds the energy of the unexpected. The other card that reduces to 5 is Temperance (14).
